Now halfway through the Grand Opening festivities, I can feel every year of my age! The frenzy that preceded the opening yesterday, left me sleep deprived, and physically aching--as if I'd run the marathon. Perhaps preparing a store opening is a marathon. Seeing folks stream in and hearing oohs and ahs has bouyed me and with a few more hours of well deserved sleep, I'll be back! No one ever said entrepreneurship was easy, but they also never said how rewarding it can be--even through the exhaustion and the multitasking to get all the work finished. So here's to old fashioned hard work and some sleep!

I heard a very interesting presentation this morning in regards to Information Technology (IT) and specifically a company that could assist my business in that area. The presentation was given by the very knowledgeable Paul LaFlamme, President of Centrend which provides technology results in a CEO's timeframe. It cleared up a lot for me. To read Paul's blog go to http://www.centrend.com/blogs/index.php. Although the GiftingIndustry is fairly low-tech compared to others, in this day and age of internet shopping, if you aren't up to speed you are losing sales! More on this topic later--If you want to know more about marketing on the internet for events, meeting and other crowd gathering events, you shoud know my friend Peter Caputa from WhizSpark.com. Follow his blog at http://worcester.typepad.com/pc4media/

Well one week and counting till the Grand Opening in our new location. It only took 11 years or so to find a location that meets all of the space needs and a pleasant environment for customers to shop in--so needless to say I am excited to introduce the place to anyone that stops in. Over the years, I have added to this business every few years. Starting out catering to businesses that had gifting needs, led to a presence on the web and the first international clients with gifting needs. Now in year 11 with enough space I'll add what I hope is a strong and steady local, walk-in clientele. Feel free to share any thoughts with me on developing consumer interest and loyalty. What makes you shop at any given store? Feedback is listened to and acted upon! Read more about the store at http://www.shayenterprises.com/newsandpress.html
